Recommendation

While Radiolite is about 15-20% cheaper than Celatom, it is properly used as a food additive and not for pool filter use. We recommend Celatom Diatomite and Dicalite for swimming pool application. Radiolite is not heat treated so it does not contain the requisite crystalline structure to perform as a filtration aid.

Application Tips

• Apply approximately 1 pound of DE per 10 sq. ft.
• Measure the required DE amount, mix in a pail of water to create a slurry, then feed it into the filter via addition to the pool skimmer. Always review filter manufacturer's instructions.
• Record pressure after DE has been applied to the filter. when the pressure increases 8-10 psi above this baseline, then it is time to clean the filter.
• DE filters should be cleaned at least once a year. To clean the filter, turn the pump off, drain the filter, remove the filter, hose off the grids, and then reassemble and apply fresh DE.
